M. Holland to Acquire Polymer Z, Form M. Holland Automotive Group
M. Holland Company, a leading distributor of thermoplastic resins, today announced that it has reached a preliminary agreement to acquire Polymer Z LLC, of Birmingham, Michigan, a specialty distributor focused on the automotive industry. Polymer Z will be combined with M. Holland’s current automotive business to form the M. Holland Automotive Group, according to Edward J. Holland, M. Holland President and Chief Executive Officer.
“Polymer Z brings a marquis customer base, an applications development capability and enhanced access to the automobile industry,” said Holland. “The acquisition accelerates our penetration in the automotive market, which is a priority for many of our strategic supplier partners.”
Polymer Z Founder and President John Zessin will lead the M. Holland Automotive Group as Managing Director. Zessin has spent his entire career in the automotive industry, serving in executive management positions with Monsanto, Bayer and Dow before founding Polymer Z in 2003.
“This is an ideal match to expand the capabilities of both companies to better service the automotive customer base,” said Zessin. “Polymer Z’s strengths are its automotive presence and focused competence in applications development; M. Holland provides a premier product portfolio, a leading North American infrastructure and, with its recent expansion in Mexico, reach into one of the fastest growing automotive manufacturing regions.”
The transaction is expected to be finalized in October and will begin conducting business as the M. Holland Automotive Group on January 1, 2016.
